Our Cincinnati Tri-state has a number of shelters to meet the needs of our Homeless Coummunity. These organizations do thier best to support people who are trying to transition from the streets to jobs and homes. Unfortunately, they are not able to meet all the needs of our homeless community.
There are still hundreds of people living on the streets. We will be exploring the needs of the Unsheltered Homeless community to determine what we can do to provide some additional outreach support.
How can we provide additonial outreach support for the Cincinnati/ NKY Unsheltered Homeless Community?
Thourough-bred students will be exploring the use of modern manufacturing processes within this PBL project to design and "manufacture" Care Bags as customer needs driven products for this community.
We will be working in partnership with the NKU and local business community FAME Initiative, and we will also be collaborating with Kim Webb, Executive Director of the Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky. Students will be incorporating support from the Math Focus Area on Volume and Surface Area on the Summit Platform to help plan, design the Care Bags, and create models for "manufacturing" and packaging our Care Bags.
