Welcome, students, parents, and guardians! 5th grade is full of learning, growth, and fun. I'm so glad we'll get to experience this exciting year together.
I'm one of those teachers who knew from a very early age that teaching was in my future. Some say it is in my blood, as both of my parents were teachers, but I fully believe teaching is my calling. My 5th grade year was life-changing, so I have aspired to do the same for my students.
I'm originally from London, Kentucky, home of the World's Famous Chicken Festival and right down the road from the original Kentucky Fried Chicken. My bachelor's degree was earned at Georgetown College in Kentucky, where I studied elementary education and music. I am pursuing my Master's degree at Northern Kentucky University in Leadership, with an emphasis in Reading and Writing. My husband, Ryan, and I have been married for two years, and live happily in Oakbrook with our cat, Blondie. Outside of school I enjoy reading, exercise (well, I don't necessarily enjoy it, but I'm currently training for a duathalon), shopping, and volunteering for my sorority (I am the chapter adviser for my sorority's chapter at the University of Cincinnati, and am the president of our local alumnae chapter). Traveling is my favorite hobby, and this summer I marked off my 49th state when I visited Alaska.
Facts about me:
Favorite color: pink (I know, you wouldn't guess so by the look of the classroom)
