Welcome to fourth grade. This is my tenth year teaching fourth grade, here at Stephens. I taught second grade for three years prior to this. I graduated with my Master's Degree in Education in 2005, from NKU. I have been married for 18 years, and have three children of my own; one is a senior at Cooper, one in eighth grade at Camp Ernst, and one in fourth grade here at Stephens. I love being a teacher, it is more my passion than my job. Being a mom, I always take the mom roll first, and pride myself in teaching my students the way I hope my children are being taught. I enjoy getting to know each one of my students as individuals, and do my best to make their educational experience meet their individual needs and interests!
This year, I have the pleasure of working with your children in all subject areas, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies! Our school follows the Kentucky Core Academic Standards, which are the minimum expectations to make a fourth grader successful, in both ELA and Math! We will follow the KY Program of Studies for Social Studies, and the Next Generation Science Standards for Science. Our ultimate goal is to help each child become college and career ready, by the time they graduate high school. Of course, right now, graduation is a long way off, but what we do in fourth grade helps to develop these all too soon adults! I hold very high expectations of all of my students, and together we will set periodic and long term goals to meet those expectations.
Parents are welcome to come check out what we're doing, or come listen to students read, or just help out in the classroom. If you would like to volunteer in the ELA classroom, please comment in our classroom blog!
