A change in the birthday eligibility cutoff for Kentucky kindergarteners will take effect in the 2017-2018 school year. The new date for Kentucky students is August 1. Any child who turns 5 years old on or before August 1, can enroll in Boone County’s ½ day Kindergarten Program. This change affects student’s statewide.
Boone County’s Board of Education has a policy, per Senate Bill 24, that allows parents to request early-entrance for kindergarten, but children must exhibit high levels of academic, social and emotional aptitude based on a series of assessments. If a child does meet the necessary requirements for early admission, parents will be charged $3.000.00 tuition for the school year. The process for early-entrance must be completed before the last day of the 2016-2017 school year. Please contact the Boone County Board of Education, Christen Morgan at (859)-334-4466 or email@example.com, if you have any questions.
