OMS Students Compete at Governor's Cup

This past weekend, several OMS students competed at the District Governor’s Cup competition.  Some participated in competitions that involved specific content areas on written exams, while others competed on the Quick Recall Academic Team.  Congratulations to the following students who medaled in their competition:

7th grader Gabriela da Silva managed to beat out all of the 8th graders in our district to win first place in the composition portion of the competition.  She also took home a 2nd place medal in Language Arts.

8th graders brought home the rest of the awards:

Abbigail Soucy took home a 4th place medal in Arts and Humanities.
Spencer Bazsika won a 4th place medal in Science
Brynden Perkins placed 3rd in Social Studies

We also brought home both a 4th and 5th place medal in Math thanks to Noah King and Brenden Hughes

All of these students will advance to the Regional Governor’s Cup competition on February 13th, and if they place again there, they move on to compete against the best and brightest students from all over the state of Kentucky. Good luck to them as they move on up!
