Unique Learning Opportunity for High School Seniors Interested in Machine Operating, Advanced Manufacturing or Engineering

28 seniors (7 from each Boone County high school) will be selected to explore careers in the growing field of manufacturing. In this fall program, students will visit industry sites and interact with employees to learn about job/apprenticeship opportunities and company benefits (often including tuition assistance). They will also do work simulation activities and practice soft skills. Two Boone County CCR Coaches will lead the students through college and career exploration to help them plan their post-secondary futures. Deadline to apply is Sept. 8. Interested students or parents should contact their high school’s CCR Pathway Coach:

                  Boone County HS                        Pam Hirn

                  Conner HS                                  Sara Franxman

                  Cooper HS                                  Jennifer Warford

                  Ryle HS                                       James Demetrakis

A new program is available this fall for seniors who are interested in careers involving building or working on various types of machines. Several manufacturers in Northern Kentucky, including Bosch, Mazak, and Hahn, will provide tours of their facilities and the chance for students to interact with employees to learn about the many job possibilities available, as well as benefits provided, including college tuition assistance.

Students will also explore various career pathways in manufacturing and do activities that simulate the skills needed for this type of work. This could end with your child getting an apprenticeship at one of the companies.  They will earn money while going to college and will receive tuition reimbursement.  Only seven BCHS students will be selected for this NKIP program, and the deadline to apply is Sept. 7. If this sounds like something you’d want your student to consider, contact me at pam.hirn@boone.kyschools.
