Summer Learning

School is out for Summer but the LEARNING shouldn’t stop!  We will have a Summer Learning Tab on our New Haven website that will connect students to a variety of learning opportunities throughout the summer. The "Summer Learning" tab is located under "Parent Resources" tab.  If your child had success with the Summer Bridge Books, you can still purchase these at local stores (Sam’s, WalMart, Parent Teacher Store) but we will not hold Summer Check Ins like we have in the past.  Instead, we are partnering with the BCPL and students will be asked to read a book and attend activities at the public library (One Book One Summer).  We are also in a district wide competition with all 14 elementary schools to see who can read the most this summer.  You can log your child’s minutes on the google doc linked to our NHES website under the Summer Learning Tab.  AR tests can also be taken throughout the summer (6/4-7/31) at any of the BCPL branches.  Students can start earning AR points to go toward next year’s goal!  Dreambox is a great online tool that will individualize your child’s math needs and continue their math learning this summer.  Journaling or keeping a diary of your Summer Adventures is also a fun way to keep student’s writing skills progressing.  Remember, learning is everywhere…enjoy your summer and take advantage of all the great learning experiences that surround us each and every day!  Happy Summer Learning!!”
