Solar CMS

Parents please be aware there will be a Total Solar Eclipse of the sun on Monday August 21st. 

School will remain in session with special activities or lessons planned for students about the eclipse. We will not allow students to participate in any unstructured outdoor activities. We will advise students not to look directly into the sun during dismissal. More detailed information and web links about the Solar Eclipse and where you can purchase Solar Eclipse safety glasses can be found on the district website.

Options for students/parents:
1. Normal school, normal dismissal for student.
2. Complete and Educational Enhancement Opportunity form to view the eclipse with your child. Your child will be counted as present at school. Use this link: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSc47YVwPHpc02YstS/viewform
3. Pick up your child early for an excused early dismissal or fill out an EEO (see link above) for a partial day and your child will be counted as present.
4. Keep your child at home. Write a note and they will receive an excused absence.
5. Contact school and ask us to hold your child until 4 pm for parent pickup.

6th Graders – If you are interested in the optional Space Camp field trip, there is an informational meeting tonight at 7:30 after the curriculum meetings in the café.  If you are interested, please be there.

Spanish Club Open House - Come to room #119 at 2:45 this Friday to immerse yourself in Spanish culture and community and find out how you can get involved! Coming soon, “Afternoon at the Movies!” sponsored by the Spanish Club!

Do you like to help other people in the school and community? If so, join Colts Care. Forms and information can be found in the front office or from Mrs. Cobble. Forms and fee are due by Friday, September 1.

First term PE students: please come purchase your uniform in the morning ASAP before your first class/homeroom.  You can do so by coming to the office with the windows by the gym when you get to school.  Uniforms are $12. 

Students interested in the optional class trips, there are informational meetings this week at 7:30 after the curriculum meetings- in the cafeteria.   6th grade space camp meeting is Tuesday.  7th grade Chicago trip meeting is Wednesday and 8th grade Washington trip is Thursday.  If you have not signed up – please attend the meeting to find out how.
