Scholastic Writing Winners

 

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are held annually to encourage creativity in teens in grades 7 through 12.  Several eighth graders at Gray Middle School were recognized in the regional competition.

Libby Brockman received a Gold Key Award for her short story, “In the Dead of the Night.”  Her entry will move on to the National competition.  Phoebe Clark received a Silver Key for her poetry collection, “So This is Life.”   Averie Morris received a Silver Key for her flash fiction entry, “The New America.”  Honorable Mention Winners are Allison Beyer, Allison Jessup, Ariel Klaas, Audrey Wilson, and Megan Winders.

The World Maker and Inventor Expo April 23rd, 2016

Learn and have fun with students, makers and inventors from the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana region.  Show off some of the innovative programs at your school!  There are many ways for you and your students to get involved in this regional celebration... booth presentations, competitions, workshops and more.  Drones, sumo-bot battles, 3D printing, puppet making, Lego sculptures, crooked playhouses exhibit, workshops, booths, food trucks and more.  Students of all ages can register to compete in a variety of competitions including 3D Modeling, Sumo-Bots, Outlaw Derby Car Races and Lego Sculptures, as well as the making and running of flameless torches... http://www.themakerexpo.com/competitions--big-prizes.html.  We anticipate over 3,000 students, parents, educators and community members.  Tickets are available online and at the door; However, any student who presents or competes will receive free entrance.  Teachers - show your school ID at the door for free entrance.  Also, I will deliver a stack of free student entrance tickets to principals at every Boone County School in February to distribute in any way they choose.  Lastly, be sure to let students know about the opportunity to win a $2,200 3D printer in one of many competitions.

Spirit Day Dates

Spirit Day Fridays

Parents and Students, 

    Every other Friday will officially be spirit day at GMS. Starting tomorrow, Decemer 17th, all students will be eligible to wear sweatpants and a Gray, Ryle, or Cooper colored T-shirt. The following dates are officially ruled Spirit Day.
