Victory Lap Celebration class of 2020

The Boone County School District and our four high schools, in conjunction with the Kentucky Speedway, are excited to announce our culminating “Victory Lap” graduation celebration to be held at the Kentucky Speedway on the weekend of June 13th and 14th. Graduating seniors will be led on three laps around the Kentucky Speedway, by Speedway personnel, concluding in a photo opportunity and diploma presentation at the start/finish line at the end of the third lap.

Only one car per senior student is permitted at the event and family members are welcome to accompany their senior in the car. Spectators are not permitted in the grand stands or other areas of the Speedway. Details on the time and day assigned to each high school and other logistical items will follow from each individual school.

We are extremely excited to be able to provide this unique opportunity to our Class of 2020!

A reminder that the BCHS Class of 2020 Commencement Exercises will air at 7 PM tomorrow, Friday, May 29th @ 7:00 PM.   The video presentation will last about one hour.  Please be sure to watch the entire time ! 

BCHS Summer School Important Notice

Boone County High School will be holding Summer School from June 1-26.  This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Summer School will be completed by students at home on Edgenuity. Click here for additional information.  

If your child failed one or more classes this year, or is not on grade level, this is a great opportunity to recover the class credit.  

Students may take one or more classes in summer school, but only one class at a time.  

The sequence of courses taken will be determined by your child’s designated school counselor.  There is NO charge for summer school this year.

KHSAA Esports Male Student-Athlete of the Year Esports

Congratulations to the 2019-20 Midway University/KHSAA Esports Male Student-Athlete of the Year – Brenden Hughes (Boone County)

  • Varsity high school student-athletes (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors*) competing in the 19 officially recognized KHSAA sports and sport-activities are eligible to compete for the Midway University/KHSAA Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
  • Each Student-Athlete of the Year in each sport or sport-activity will then be eligible for the annual Midway University/KHSAA Female and Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
  • This awards will be presented at a banquet on Midway University’s campus in Midway, Kentucky in late spring or early summer

Boone County Schools Provides Wellness Balance Helpline


This helpline is for our parents, students and employees.

The BCS Wellness Balance Helpline is staffed by School Psychologists and Counselors. It will be open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday.

We understand how you might be feeling.  You are not alone in this.  For the time being this is the new normal for all of us.  This helpline is designed to provide resources or assistance for those feeling anxious, stressful or depressed.  Boone County Schools is committed to meeting our school community’s needs and supporting our families as this situation evolves.

If you call the line after 4pm or on the weekend, leave a voicemail and your contact number.  Your call will be returned on the next business day.

Matt Turner Named New Superintendent For Boone County Schools logo

Ryle High School Principal Matt Turner has been appointed to serve as the next Superintendent of the Boone County School District.

Mr. Turner has served in education for 29 years.  The last 14 as Principal at Ryle High, Northern Kentucky’s largest high school with a student population of 2000. Before that he served as Assistant Principal at Ryle, assistant principal at Lloyd Memorial High in Erlanger, KY, and assistant principal at Williamstown High School.  He has held multiple other positions in education throughout his career that include teaching and coaching.  “Matt is known as a gifted leader and administrator throughout Kentucky, says school board president Matt McIntire. We are excited to announce Mr. Turner as our next Superintendent of Boone County Schools and to partner with him on behalf of our students. Matt’s ability to lead teams centered on a shared vision will be vital as we build on the foundation of Achieving Excellence Together in our schools." 

Mr. Turner’s background in education leadership includes Harvard’s Executive Leadership Program for Educators and the National Institute of School Leadership. Having worked in rural, urban and suburban settings to include small towns and larger metropolitan areas perfectly suits him to lead Kentucky’s third largest district of 21,000 students.

The search for a new Superintendent began 4 months ago with a Superintendent Search Screening Committee which included elected teachers, administrators and community members working alongside the Boone County School Board.

District Summer Credit Information summer learning

District Summer Credit Information 2020

District Summer Credit offerings are through a virtual curriculum program due to the COVID-19 emergency.

Your student’s home high school may also offer summer credit courses. Those registrations are handled directly by the home high school, and not through this registration link. The District Summer Credit Program  is offered as an additional option for students and families.

All of the curriculum can be completed entirely through a virtual platform. There will be no requirement for students to meet with their assigned teacher. Teachers will have office hours and locations available for student assistance as needed. Teachers will individually contact their students and parents after registration is complete.

SBDM Meetings Going Virtual Important Notice

There will be a special meeting of the SBDM council on Monday 4/20/20 @ 3 PM.   The meeting will be a virtual meeting and anyone wanting to attend can email the school Principal for a zoom meeting invite.  

This will be for all meetings until further notice.


Important information for our seniors: 

NKU has canceled all on campus activities through June 30th.  Obviously this includes our previously scheduled graduation date and one set of the back up dates the District had secured.  The District does have additional dates secured at NKU.  The POTENTIAL dates for BCHS graduation are July 8th or August 1st.  We will keep you posted.

National Champions National Champions

BCHS is thrilled to announce that our Cheerleaders have just won their 2nd consecutive NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP at the UCA National Championship Cheerleading competition in Orlando, FL !!!!  A huge congratulations to all.  Also, a huge congrats to our JV cheerleaders on their 3rd place finish in their National competition.  What a great day to be REBELS !!!!!!
