I am excited and eager about starting my fourteenth year of teaching at Collins Elementary and my eighth as a 3rd grade teacher. In the past I have also been a 3rd/4th grade teacher at Ockerman Elementary and a Para-educator in 5th grade at 4th Street Elementary in Newport.
I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from Northern Kentucky University in 2005. I completed my Master’s degree during the summer of 2008 at NKU in Instructional Leadership. I feel as an educator you need to be a life long learner, and I will continue to further my education.
I feel that all children can learn and as a teacher it is my goal to help the child meet their potential as a learner. I love meeting and getting the opportunity to teach new students every year, and getting to learn and know about them. I am also excited about getting the chance to reunite with some of my students from last year’s class.
I try and be as accessible to parents as possible in the busy hectic lives we live. I feel when parents and teachers work together, the child can only benefit from it. I always get back to you as soon as possible on any issues or conflicts.
I live in Alexandria, Kentucky and take care of my mom and our pet cat Sambo. I have two sisters who live in Alexandria also. I have 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
I play rugby for Queen City Rugby Club, a division 3 rugby club. I have been playing rugby since 2001 and have had a chance to play rugby in England, Wales, Scotland, Canada, and Costa Rica. I am a huge sports fan and especially a big fan of the Michigan Wolverines.I also visit Major League baseball stadiums in the summer and have been to 26 of the 30 stadiums.
Thank you for taking time out to learn about me. I will enjoy working with you and your child this school year.
