Ballyshannon Arts & Humanities Overview
The Bally Visual and Performing Arts & Humanities programs center on establishing a solid foundation in all four art disciplines so that students are able to communicate and perform at a level of mastery in each: band, chorus, visual arts, and theatre.
Active experiences expose all of our students to a variety of artistic abilities. Band, visual art, and chorus are offered as classes during regular school instruction times, while theatre is offered as an after-school program.
The Bally Visual and Performing Arts curriculum is based on the Kentucky Academic Standards for Arts. These are designed to engage students in artistic processes and creative expression; along with making connections to the arts as they convey meaning and reflect the human experience.
FOUR STANDARDS:
- CREATING: Conceiving and developing new artistic ideas and works
- PERFORMING / PRODUCING / PRESENTING: Realizing artistic ideas and work through interpretation and presentation
- RESPONDING: Understanding and evaluating how the arts convey meaning in works
- CONNECTING: Relating artistic ideas and work with personal meaning and external context
