High School Hero Cody Hardin

High School Hero

It's "Cody Hardin Day" in Boone County!

Conner High Junior Cody Hardin was honored today by State Representatives Ed Massey and Sal Santoro and the Boone County Sheriff's department for his bravery and heroism involving a fellow student. The first week of school Cody stopped an alleged attempted kidnapping of a fellow student on the Conner campus.

Today Hardin flanked by his peers and state and local officials was given citations for his bravery from the Kentucky House of Representatives and Kentucky Senate.  Sheriff Helmig from the Boone County Sheriff's department promoted Cody to "Honorary" Boone County Deputy. Deputy Kenny Burcham who arrested the man who allegedly tried to kidnap the student was also honored for his actions.  Cody Hardin's family was there to see him honored.

In a twist of irony Cody says not long after the incident a fortune cookie message he received from a meal at a local Chinese restaurant said, "Aspire to help others."  Cody has done that and so much more!

Hope and Well-being for All Boone County Students 5K 5k flyer

Funds are being raised to support programming and instruction that build grit, perseverance, resilience, mental wellness, and leadership in all students, as well as promote healthy life choices.

Enjoy a morning with family, friends and teachers in the community to support Boone County Schools. Bring the whole family to race like the thoroughbreds on Turfway Park's horse track! Trophies will be given to the winners!

Tobacco Free tobacco free

In 2019, the Kentucky legislature passed HB11, a statewide 100% Tobacco Free School bill. 100% Tobacco Free Schools prohibit tobacco use, including vapor products and alternative nicotine products, by staff, students and visitors 24 hours a day, seven days a week, inside Board-owned buildings or vehicles, on school owned property and during school-sponsored events, trips and activities. The primary goals of these policies include reducing exposure to secondhand smoke and encouraging tobacco users to consume less of the addictive product.
The more significant long-term effect of these policies, however, is to reduce youth tobacco use by reducing student exposure to tobacco use as an acceptable behavior by role models important to their development. For additional information about tobacco free schools, visit the Tobacco Free Schools website.
