Cap, Gown and other item pickup/Chromebook Return: Friday 5/15 1:00 pm - 7:00 PM
Caps, Gowns and other items ordered through Graduate Services will be available to be picked up. Senior shirts will be available if you have not picked up (confirm with email@example.com) . Locker Contents will be available to pick up if you filled out the form (see below).
Senior Last name letters A-F. Sign up for a time to come to CHS, your item pickup will be at the front of the building. Enter our campus through the Conner Middle School Bus Loop. Turn right at the stop sign to get to the front of the building
Senior Last name letters G-O. Sign up for a time to come to CHS, your item pickup will be at the back of the building. Enter campus through the KY 237 end, on Cougar Path. Drive straight until you get to the CHS Baseball Field (the front corner of our building). Turn Left at the stop sign to get to the back of the building.
Senior Last name letters P-Z. Sign up for a time to come to CHS, your item pickup will be in the student parking lot. Enter campus from the Goodridge end. At the student parking lot, turn right into the lot.
There are 19 slots available per hour. This will get everyone through in a timely manner. Please follow the above directions and it will help with traffic flow. We will direct you to exits. First, thank you for your patience with many of the items I'm going to give out information on this evening. I appreciate it. Decisions have been made about several items, and I want to share them with you. Lots of considerations had to be given, as we are following local health department guidelines, as well as KDE guidelines. I know none of this is how we wanted to proceed, but we are very much in line with local colleges, universities and other institutions. All four of the Boone County Schools High Schools will be following the same protocols.
First and foremost. Graduation will take place virtually. We will video the normal speeches by myself, and others. Then we will read the names of all of our graduates. As we read the names, a slide with your senior photo will appear. Then we will stream it on our school YouTube Channel on Friday 5/29 at 7 pm. I will provide the link to the channel in the upcoming weeks. All four high schools will be streaming at the same time. The video will remain available after this date for you to download, or view again. Our normal program will be emailed out to all seniors as a PDF document, it will be the same one we would have used had we had an in person ceremony. Baccalaurate is TBD at this point, we are still trying to make arrangements.
Caps and Gowns: All gowns (across our district) will be the black gowns. They are yours to keep. We thought this was the best way to handle it, no turn in, you keep your gown. Caps will remain the same colors as normal. Red and Blue.
Cap/Gown/other item pickup: This will take place for our Seniors on Friday 5/15 from 12-6 PM. Early next week I will provide you all with an online way to sign up for a time slot to pick your items up. We will have several pickup locations on campus, so please follow the directions on how to enter and exit campus. We will need to get 330+ of you in and out in the 6 hour time frame. I am also going to ask seniors to fill out this form. This will tell us if you want to retrieve the items that were in your locker on 3/12. If you do, we will have it bagged up with your name on a tag to get in your appropriate line.
Diplomas: As of this time, Diplomas have NOT been printed. The place that makes them has been closed for quite some time. It looks like we may have to mail diplomas. I will keep you posted on this.
Chromebooks: Please bring your Chromebook to pickup day on 5/15. At this time you can turn your chromebook in. If you are in an AP class, and need to keep your chromebook, you may do so. Let us know that day, and you can make arrangements to drop it off in the vestibule after your exam.
Senior Awards Night: The plan is to stream Senior Awards night on 5/13, the date of original schedule. I will send out information on this as well. It's important that you send you award information to Mr. Ford! We always give a total of all of the next level dollars our seniors have earned.
Senior Field Light Up: I will continue this tradition. Every Wednesday at 8:20 PM I've been lighting up our athletic field for 20 minutes and 20 seconds. It's been a nice reminder to our Seniors that we are thinking about them. Many have driven by during this time. On the 5/13 light up, I'm going to ask our staff members to be present on campus as an end of year celebration on campus and line the route you would take as you drive by our field. It'll be a nice reminder to our seniors all of our staff is and has been thinking about them.
Future: Sometime in the future (hopefully sooner rather than later): I'd like to have the seniors back to get pictures at our auditorium podium, in caps and gowns if they choose, with diplomas in hand. And hopefully sometime in the future we can have a heck of a reunion on campus.
Again, thank you for your patience as these decisions were being made. We've tried to make the best we can out of a situation that is beyond our control. I'm sure I'll be in touch again to update/give more information .
