From The Superintendent - November 24th

Dear Boone County Families & Employees,

Thank you to our parents and our employees for their hard work and dedication in service to our children.  The road to success is never a straight path – there are always pitfalls and difficulties on the way.  As we ask our children to do – we must consider these difficulties as learning opportunities and continue growing together.  We have many things to celebrate across our school district and at each of our schools.  Please take some time to share your thanks with the people around you.

We have made progress in recruiting new employees, however, we still have an urgent need for additional bus drivers, paraeducators, and custodians and would like to invite people to apply for these positions or others on the Employment Opportunities page of our school district website  (https://www.applitrack.com/booneky/onlineapp/)

Our priority remains keeping our students and staff safe and our schools open for daily, in-person instruction.  The COVID-19 incidence rate for Boone County has increased to 40.7 cases/100k population and remains at the high level.  As approved in October, we will continue implementing all layers of our safety strategies, including the wearing of a facemask, until the incidence rate of COVID-19 in Boone County reaches the moderate level.  Below is a summary of COVID-19 positive cases and quarantines for our 20,000+ students:

  • Week ending 11/1273 student positive cases148 student quarantines
  • Week ending 11/1976 student positive cases101 student quarantines

Across our nearly 4,000 employees, we recorded the following:

  • Week ending 11/128 employee positive cases1 employee quarantine
  • Week ending 11/1916 employee positive cases0 employee quarantines

We continue to offer the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine voluntarily to our families and employees.  The clinics are scheduled for Monday, November 29th through Friday, December 3rd, at one school site each day of the week.  These sites are Cooper High School, Ryle High School, Conner High School, Boone County High School, and Jones Middle School.  The vaccine is available for children ages 5-11 and for students, parents, and adults 12 years and older.  Please use this link (https://kyvax.wildhealth.com/)  to set up an appointment; more information will also available on our district website.

Thank you for your care and support and remember that we all have the same end goal.  We want a safe and healthy place for students and staff in our schools, a place where they can focus on learning and teaching.

Happy Thanksgiving!
