COVID School Closure

November 13, 2020

Dear Boone County Families and Employees,

This morning we made the decision to close all Boone County Schools due to staffing absences and quarantines.  After further review and assessment of the situation this morning, we have determined that we cannot provide in-person instruction due to absences and quarantines within our operational staff and our instructional staff.  We are therefore transitioning to all-virtual instruction for all students starting Monday, November 16th and we expect to return to in-person instruction on Monday, November 30th.

We continue to believe that our schools are some of the safest places for our staff and students due to their implementation of the safety protocols.  However, the increased community spread of COVID-19 in our county does directly affect the absenteeism of our staff and teachers.  Our employees must stay home if they need to take care of their families, when they are ill, or if they are quarantined due to close contact.

Your respective schools will be communicating with you regarding this transition to virtual learning.  We will continue to do everything possible to make the best decisions for our schools and our staff.

Sincerely,
Matthew L. Turner
Superintendent
