For the 2017/18 school year:
October 15-21 is Ky Safe Schools Week, October 23-31 is Red Ribbon Week, and October is bully prevention month. So, during this month, we will stress the importance of making good choices through the Ky Safe Schools theme of “Get Involved; Get it Solved; Stop the Bullying!”. Students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to celebrate by participating in daily themes to be determined. 2016/17 daily themes were as follows:
* Honor: On Monday, 10/17, wear red/white/blue in honor of our elected officials/heroes.
* Encourage: On Tuesday, 10/18, encourage our emergency heroes by dressing like a hero who helps us when there is an emergency (such as firefighters, police officers, resource officers, doctors, nurses, rescue workers, paramedics, ambulance drivers, etc.).
* Respect: On Wednesday, 10/19, wear camouflage to show respect for our Military heroes (any type of camo will do!).
* Opportunity: On Thursday, 10/20, take the opportunity to be a hero by giving someone a compliment today.
*School Spirit Day: On Friday, October 21, wear your Yealey spirit wear to show that we can all be heroes everyday by being a bully free school!
In addition to the daily themes:
Students will receive a red ribbon and a “bully & drug free” bookmark, students will complete an online Pledge during ATLAS class, and October guidance lessons will focus on making good choices.
Although we have fun days scheduled in celebration of Ky Safe Schools Week/Red Ribbon Week/Bully Prevention Month, we want to always emphasize the importance of positive choices, good character, and healthy lifestyles!
