Hello! This is my 9th year as a 7th grade Science teacher at Ockerman and 26th year overall. My wife teaches in Cincinnati and our 2 children are recent college graduates. I was raised in Michigan's Upper Penninsula and attended the University of Michigan and Northern Kentucky University. We have lived in Northern Kentucky since 1989 and are still adjusting to the warm weather and lack of snow! I enjoy travelling to new places, sports, biking, and gardening. We have hosted 4 exchange students from Europe, but are now empty-nesters, except for our Labradoodle.
Science at the middle school level is integrated, which means our studies will include units dealing with life, earth, and physical science. Units for this year are aligned with the new Next Generation Science Standards with a heavy emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). We will build upon some topics covered in the 6th grade while introducing many new concepts. The goal is to develop skills through individual and cooperative activities to best prepare students for their academic futures and beyond. My expectations are for each student to attain this goal by working hard, participating in class, and asking questions.
