ESL Cohort Celebration

We celebrated the completion of the first cohort of classroom teachers that completed their English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement through a partnership with Northern Kentucky University.

The Board of Education entered into an agreement with NKU to provide full tuition for classroom teachers in our schools with the highest English Learner (EL) population to earn their ESL endorsement. This 5 class, 18 month online program provides the theoretical understanding and classroom application of how students develop a second/third language.

With an ever increasing population of EL students in Boone county, this partnership is critical so that we can build the capacity of our classroom teachers. The first cohort began in the fall of 2021 and completed in Dec 2022. The second cohort began in Fall of 2022 and has now completed their first class. The third cohort will begin in August of 2023.
