Two Boone County Staff members and a student saved the lives of three students over the course of this school year.  Last week at lunch a Collins elementary student was choking and another elementary student, Leon Jones immediately performed the Heimlich Maneuver on the student. How did Leon know what to do?  He said his teacher Mr. Andy Sherlock taught his class how to perform the maneuver last year and he remembered it. Three weeks earlier a similar situation happened at Ballyshannon Middle School and Cafeteria staffer Darielle (Dar) Hampton jumped in and performed the Heimlich on a student choking during lunch time. And last fall at Kelly Elementary a student was choking on food during lunch and again a staffer, Head Custodian Sonny Fryman took quick action and saved that student using the Heimlich maneuver.  We want to acknowledge and thank them for their heroism. Superintendent Jeff Hauswald stopped by each school today to present the hero with a certificate of appreciation.
