Boone County Schools has purchased new communication technology for each school to improve on clear communications, inclusive learning environments and school safety.

This upgrade of the audio systems of each classroom is through a company called Audio Enhancement. Once all installed teachers will wear small microphones, ensuring every student can clearly hear instruction, no matter where they sit. To better support our multilingual families, Audio Enhancement includes built-in translation tools. Teachers and staff can communicate more effectively with students and parents in multiple languages, making every classroom more welcoming and accessible.

Should there be a safety concern, teachers can send emergency alerts instantly. Classrooms receive visual notifications during lockdowns, and teachers can confirm their rooms are secure. School administrators receive real-time updates. Integrated security systems and updated intercoms make school-wide responses faster and more coordinated.

Below are pictures of schools undergoing Audio Enhancement training at Mann and Erpenbeck Elementary Schools. Installation is being finalized in many of our schools with all of our schools being brought on board this school year.

Last week at Ballyshannon Middle School, special needs students attended a week long drama camp. The Boone County School district partners annually with the Lexington Shooting Stars Youtheatre. Program Director Octavia Biggs brings student interns from Morehead State University to work with students throughout the week on several projects including a play. They develop a script, create props and back drop for the stage. This year the play is The Lorax, adapted by Shooting Stars Youtheatre. Students get to experience music, dance, art and creativity. At the end of the week their parents get to see them preform on the stage. Boone County Students also volunteered as peer helpers during the week. They were buddies for the special needs students. Elementary camp was held in the morning and Middle and High School camp in the afternoon. Special Education Assistant Director Deana Izzo who makes Drama Camp happen every year says this years Drama Camp is bitter sweet because it is her last, she is retiring.

our new app
Boone County Schools is launching a new mobile app to help students, parents, and community members know what is happening on campus from their phones. Most families use their phones as a primary means of communication, so we've created an app that is custom-built to your school for smartphones. On the app, your students, parents, and community can read the latest announcements, locate staff contact information, review upcoming events, and find important documents. The Boone County Schools, KY app is available to download free from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store.
